What Ingredients are Needed for Homemade Crostini?

Recipe Ingredients.

Recipe Ingredients

Baguette, sliced very thin on the bias – Get a nice quality baguette, one that has some flavor.

Olive oil – The olive oil counts here as flavor, so use a good quality EVOO or extra virgin olive oil.

Sea salt – I like a sea salt that is a flake or something with a good salty taste, as you don’t want to use much.

Parsley – This is optional, but adds a little flavor and some color, but not necessary.

How to Make Crostini

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.

Lay the baguette slices out on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

Using a pastry brush, brush the baguette slices on the one side with the olive oil. Turn the slices over and brush the other side with olive oil.

Sprinkle the baguette slices with the sea salt and bake in the center of the oven for 12 -15 minutes.

Parsley added.

Watch them closely, you want them slightly toasted but not burnt.

Garnish with the chopped parsley, if desired, and serve with any dip, cheese platter, or charcuterie board.

FAQS

You don’t need a really fresh baguette, as you are drying it anyway by toasting it, but you can’t use an overly stale one either.

Storage

Store crostini in an air-tight container or Zip-lock bag for up to 2 days.
