Ingredients
- 1 loaf French bread sliced in half horizontally
- 1/4 cup butter softened
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce
- 1 – 2 cups grated mozzarella cheese
- 4 Roma tomatoes sliced
- Kosher salt and fresh ground pepper
- 6-8 fresh basil leaves
- Olive oil or pizza oil for drizzling
- Optional: pepperoni olives, mushrooms, red onions, green peppers, etc.
Method
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
- Butter each half of the French loaf and sprinkle both halves with garlic powder.
- Place the bread on a baking sheet and bake in the oven for 5 minutes, or until just lightly toasted.
- Once toasted, remove the baking sheet from the oven and spread the pizza sauce evenly across both slices of French loaf.
- Add any additional toppings, if desired, and top with 1 – 2 cups of grated mozzarella cheese.
- Put the baking sheet back into the oven for 10 to 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven, top with fresh sliced tomatoes and chopped basil. Season with Kosher salt and fresh ground pepper. Drizzle with olive oil or pizza oil if desired.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes then slice and enjoy!
