Ingredients for French Bread Pizza Recipe

Ingredients.

Ingredients

Loaf French bread – Get a fresh French loaf and slice it horizontally in half.

Butter, softened – You can use either salted or unsalted butter. Add some flake salt if it is unsalted.

Garlic powder – A must for any pizza; you can use granulated garlic also.

Pizza sauce – Store-bought is a quick and easy solution.

Mozzarella cheese, grated – Grate the cheese yourself; don’t buy pre-grated cheese; it is full of fillers.

Roma tomatoes, sliced – I like fresh tomatoes on my pizza; you can add them if you like.

Kosher salt and fresh ground pepper – Season the pizza according to your tastes.

Fresh basil leaves – This is a great garnish that adds a real pop of flavor.

Olive oil or pizza oil, for drizzling – A great, easy way to finish the pizza and add some flavor.

Once toasted, remove the baking sheet from the oven and spread the pizza sauce evenly across both slices of French loaf. Add any additional toppings, if desired, and top with 1 – 2 cups of grated mozzarella cheese.

Put the baking sheet back into the oven for 10 to 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Little Chef’s Secrets

Sliced and ready to serve.
  • Don’t skip baking the sliced loaves after you butter them until lightly toasted. It helps to keep the bread from getting soggy from the pizza sauce.
  • You can add a little dried oregano when you sprinkle on the garlic powder for extra flavor.
  • Add whatever toppings you like on your pizza, from pepperoni to ham to mushrooms to green peppers to the controversial pineapple.
  • Don’t overload the toppings. Too many ingredients can make the bread heavy and soggy.
